So, as I am sitting here on the 11pm bus out of NYC Saturday night, it occurred to me that some people might think I have a pretty interesting job.
So I started thinking about this week at work...and thought it might be an interesting one.....
Monday: we had a VIP dinner at night for the American Museum of The Moving Image. I had been at work since 5:30am and it was about 5pm when the group decided to finally let us know that Jimmy Fallon was the evening entertainment.....so we scrambled around and got everything set for Jimmy's performance. I had to soundcheck his guitar--a Gibson--and then bring it to him pre-show so he could practice. I got to talk to him for a few minutes prior about cowboys hats (he was wearing one for his show)....anyway, Jimmy was a super nice guy! Also got to see Jon MacInroe, Fred Armison during dinner..fun times, even though I got home at 11pm.
Tuesday: fell asleep by 11:30pm, then woke up at 3:45am to start the day...ughhh
We had a morning meeting that went well, and then had to setup for another VIP dinner at night, this time for The American Cancer Society---super nice people with great hearts.
Tonight I got to see Scott Hamilton and Donald Trump....pretty neat, but by 8:30pm I could barely stand anymore so I went home.
Wednesday: nothing exciting here, came in at 8:30 and left by 4:30--thank God!
Thursday: in by 5:30am again, but this time I decided that I was leaving at 1:30 to go play golf...and to my surprise I actually did! Dave Vollmer and I went to Bunker Hill in Princeton to play 18....but they had leagues so we went to Matawang in Hillsborough instead. I kicked Daves butt in the front 9, but he beat me on the back...we got to play 20 holes before we got rained on.
Friday: back at work at 5:30am again...we had a meeting starting at 10am....we were all set by 7am, and were just waiting for the group to show up....I actually went to the office, closed the door, closed my eyes and took a quick nap ;) at 9am I was awakened by the phone ringing....the client decided that they wanted to change their setup....so we had to move 2 plasma monitors from one side of the building to the other while 150 people watched us and got in our way because the client couldn't have told us this the day before when we had a meeting with them to discuss their setup.....ggrrrrr!!!
So then we had a staff meeting that I thought was going to be 90 min max....turned out it lasted 3 hours!! But it was worth it let everybody get some things off their chest.
Home I went,,,,got back by 730pm and went to dinner with Emily at Famous Daves---yum.
After we got back, we both crashed and didn't get back up until about 11am Saturday.
So then I was back at work at 3pm to handle another dinner. Let me just say......
It is such a rarity to run across a meeting planner who actually has a clue! When they do come, it's usually one of the best experiences, but way more often than not, all of my time is spent trying to fix all the problems caused by amatuer hour "planners".
Tonight was amatuer hour for sure.
But now it's over and I get one day of rest before the madness starts all over again!
